No matter how well you know your subject, if English is not your first language (ESOL) you have the added challenge of getting your message across to your reader in a clear and succinct way. Things don't always translate perfectly from one language to another, and explaining things in another language can be very difficult. By having your work checked by a native English proofreader, you will eliminate any major obstacles to understanding and allow your reader to focus on the quality of your work rather than on your English.
I am a specialist in proofreading for English as a second language, including translated texts, with over 10 years' experience working with clients in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
ESOL rates:
£18 per 1000 words read for all academic proofreading, including ESOL.
What to expect:
I will return your work to you with tracked changes and comments in the margin. My service includes:
Native English proofreader
Full spelling and grammar check
Sense check with sentence restructure where necessary
Check for repetition and inconsistencies
Where things don't make sense or are unclear, I will query these with you and help you to rewrite them in a more succinct way
Reference check
Helpful comments in the margin where things could be improved
Turnaround:
I will always aim to work to your deadlines, however, for larger pieces of work I do require at least two week's notice. Typically, a 50,000 word thesis will be returned to you within three weeks.
Certificate of proofreading:
Many universities now have a proofreading policy that professionals must adhere to when proofreading students' work. To confirm that I have followed your university's policy, as standard, I provide a certificate of proofreading that can be submitted with your work.
